Tombacco, Biferno DOC.
A new discovery from Central eastern Italy. Immediately south of Abruzzo, on the Adriatic coast of eastern Italy is the small DOC of Biferno, like its northern neighbour the red grape variety is Montepulciano.
This wine is made from old vine Montepulciano grapes fermented and aged for more than 12 months in oak barrels. This ageing process gives the wine riserva status with extra bottle ageing included.
The wine is dark red in colour, full bodied, has a fruity fleshy style. Hints of red fruit flavours, soft tannins and a long finish.
Perfect with red meat dishes.
