Cantina Montecchio, Tuscany, Italy.
Made by a small producer, putting care and quality foremost.
This wine comes from the great 2009 vintage. Made mainly from Sangiovese it is lovely and soft and rounded in flavour with hints of cherries.
To gain its Riserva status, it requires to be aged in oak for at least 6 months, then bottled for another 6 months before release.
It is at a remarkably good price, if this wine came from one of the big name producers, it would be priced over£20 per bottle!
